Timothy Besley is School Professor of Economics and Political Science at LSE, Director of STICERD, and formerly served on the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee.
He is a Fellow of the British Academy and the Econometric Society, and is a foreign honorary member of the American Economic Association and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He was the first person not based at a US university to co-edit the American Economic Review and was the 2010 president of the European Economic Association. He was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2010 Birthday Honours
