Gilla ShapiroMPA dual degree: LSE and Hertie School of Governance

I am a Canadian and British national, and I have interests in psychology as well as health and gender policy. I began my studies at Girton College, University of Cambridge, where I earned a BA and an MA in Social Psychology. To further develop my interest in public policy, I completed the MPA/MPP dual degree programme at LSE and the Hertie School of Governance (Berlin, Germany). Over the last two years, I have worked for the Hospital for Sick Children, the Center for Mental Health and Addictions, the Global Public Policy institute, and the Social Science Research Center Berlin.

I currently work as a Research Coordinator at the Centre for Research on Inner City Health, St. Michael’s Hospital (Toronto, Canada), where I evaluate crisis teams across Canada. My experience on the MPP/MPA program prepared me for this role and my time at LSE helped to shape the critical nature and depth in which I examine policy issues. I have also authored a number of publications including an article based on my LSE dissertation on abortion rights in Muslim-majority countries, published in the journal Health Policy and Planning.
