LSE Research Festival Toolkit

If you want some help in conveying your research through visual media then please make use of our LSE Research Festival Toolkit - a collection of resources provided by communications experts from University of the Arts, London.

These resources were used initially as part of a series of workshops run in late November 2013, designed to provide an introduction to the use of posters, photographs and film in presenting research projects. We hope they will give an insight into devices such as storyboarding and typographic hierarchy, that are useful for any work involving visual media.

We're also posting here some of the comments from judges at previous exhibitions about what stood out for them in the winning exhibits:

"An engaging and informative poster, showcasing a clear beginning and end with excellent use of colour." - 2014 poster judge on winning entry, Community Capacity by Anji Mehta, Martin Knapp, Annette Bauer, Margaret Perkins and Tom Snell, Personal Social Services Research Unit (PSSRU), LSE.

"One of the strongest images in the competition. Through choosing to present a black and white image the photographer references the genre of reportage with all the connotations that brings regarding being an eye-witness to important events." - 2013 photograph judges on winning entry, Communist pre-election campaign, Greece by Evangelos Georgas.
