Chief Communications Officer

Urs is the Communications Officer of the Security Department of Zurich, Switzerland's largest canton. The department comprises of more than 4,800 employees in the cantonal police force, the road traffic office, the migration office, the office for military affairs and civil defence, the cantonal social welfare office, the sports office, the general secretariat and affiliated specialist departments. In his role, Urs is responsible for internal and external communications at departmental level, and for public relations work on behalf of the head of the department; he also supports and coordinates the communications work done by the offices and specialist units. He reports to the secretary general in organisational terms, but works directly with the head of the Department of Security. Previously he worked for various PR and public affairs agencies in Switzerland. He holds an MA in Philosophy, Medieval Latin Language and Literature and Political Science from the University of Zurich.
