From June 2015 Lily is the Deputy Executive Director for Unicef UK, playing a key role in leading the organisation as part of the Executive Team. She has direct responsibility for ambitious advocacy, communication and programme strategies to strengthen Unicef UK’s work for the world’s children. The UN General Assembly extended Unicef's mandate indefinitely in 1953 and it now works in more than 190 countries. Unicef UK is a registered charity which raises funds to protect children in danger, transform their lives and build a safer world for tomorrow’s children. Lily previously served as Director of Strategy and Policy at The Children’s Society and as Head of Communications for the leading mental health charity, Rethink Mental Illness. Lily began her career in frontline social care roles and worked as a caseworker and advocate in a not-for-profit community law centre. She is a campaigner on issues of social justice and equality, poverty and rights, child protection and health and social care, and acts as a media commentator and spokesperson.
