September 1-4, 2010
Bertinoro (Forlì) – ITALY
The programme will consists of workshops and panel sessions focused on submitted research papers or debates on historiography, broad interpretative issues and new research directions.
The School faculty will include prominent scholars in the field, among others: Michael Cox, Arne Westad, Svetozar Rajak (London School of Economics), Federico Romero (Università di Firenze), Mario Del Pero (Università di Bologna), Leopoldo Nuti (Università Roma 3), Silvio Pons (Università di Roma Tor Vergata), Antonio Varsori (Università di Padova), Marilyn Young (New York University).
The Summer School is an excellent opportunity for graduate students to present papers and receive critical feedback from peers and experts in the field. Doctoral students and PhDs (no more than 3 years from completion) are invited to submit their research paper proposals. We encourage submissions on any aspect of the Cold War, broadly defined. Of particular interest are papers that make use of newly available primary sources. Papers should not exceed 7,000 words (double spaced). At the School, each participant will sum up their paper in a brief 15 minute presentation.
The accepted students will provide for their own travelling expenses to and from Bertinoro and pay a € 50 registration fee. The School will provide board and lodging at the conference venue.
Please direct all inquiries to firstname.lastname@example.org
UPDATE: Successful applicants have been notified of their acceptance. We will be in contact in the coming weeks with more information regarding accomodation and the conference programme. Papers will be posted here as they are received.
The Cold War Summer School is an annual event, so doctoral students and recent PhDs are encouraged to apply in 2011.
The programme and papers may be downloaded by delegates in the secure conference site.
