The Dahrendorf Postdoctoral Fellowship is part of the Dahrendorf Forum, a joint project between LSE and German partners the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin and Stiftung Mercator honouring the legacy of former LSE Director Lord Ralf Dahrendorf.
Fellows support the forum's Europe and the World working groups on the EU's external relations with key and border regions. There are five working groups split between IDEAS and the Hertie School of Governance, with three of the attached Fellows based at IDEAS.
Olivia Gippner holds a PhD in political science from Freie Universität Berlin and the Berlin Graduate School of Transnational Studies for which she researched EU-China climate relations and Chinese policy-making. During her Master in Public Policy at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy in Singapore she focused her studies on the role of energy policy in development.
Cristian Nitoiu is an expert on EU and Russian foreign policy, EU-Russia relations, Eastern Europe, international relations, the European public sphere or international political communication. Before coming to LSE he held research positions at Trinity College Dublin and the College of Europe (Natolin campus, ENP Chair).
Tim Oliver's research interests focus on transatlantic relations, European geopolitics, British-European relations, British government and politics, and the UK’s foreign, security and defence policies. He was awarded a PhD in International Relations from the London School of Economics. Prior to joining the Dahrendorf Program, Tim has taught at LSE, UCL and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
