Muhammad Hadianto (Ian) Wirajuda is the Southeast Asia Programme PhD Scholarship holder at LSE IDEAS.
Mr Wirajuda is a PhD candidate in International Relations with the thesis, "Inside Indonesia's Diplomacy: The Impact of Democratisation on Indonesia's Foreign Policy". He has a Master of Arts in International Studies from the University of Birmingham and a Bachelor of Law from Universitas Trisakti Jakarta. He has worked at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, World Bank Indonesia, Citigroup Jakarta, and ASEAN Secretariat Bureau of Economic Integration.
Mr Wirajuda was a member and research of the Indonesian Delegates to the 59th United Nations General Assembly in New York, initiated the "Open Dialogue" theme: ASEAN: Its Relevance and Challenges at Universitas Trisakti, Jakarta, and headed the Organizing Committee, "Saturday Morning Talks" theme: Implementation of Indonesian Foreign Policy in the Current Global Situation, Universitas Trisakti, Jakarta. He has also served as a delegate of the World Bank at the UN conference against corruption in Bali and a delegate of Universitas Trisakti at the meeting between US Secretary of State, Colin Powell and Indonesian students, Hotel Mulia, Jakarta. Mr Wirajuda has published several op-ed articles on Indonesian politics, democracy, and foreign policy works in various Indonesian local and English newspapers in Jakarta.
