Asnake Kefale

Asnake-KefaleDr Asnake Kefale has been awarded the African Research Fellowship for 2013/2014.

During his fellowship at IDEAS, Dr Kefale seeks to examine the lessons that the Horn of Africa key conflict management institution, the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) can learn from the Association of South East Asian (ASEAN) in realizing its quest to build a security community.

He is Assistant Professor Political Science and International Relations at the Addis Ababa University. In addition to his university appointment, Dr Kefale served from October 2011 to August 2013 as Director for Research and Publications at the Forum of Social Studies (FSS) which is a leading policy research institution in Addis Ababa. During the same period, he also served as a Managing Editor of the Africa Review of Books – a Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA) journal published by FSS.
