Laura Barber is the programme assistant for the Africa International Affairs Programme. She is a PhD candidate in International Relations at the London School of Economocs and Political Science (LSE). Her thesis topic concerns Chinese foreign policy towards Africa in the 'going out' era, with a particular focus on the evolution of China's relations with Sudan and South Sudan. Previously she worked as a programme assistant at the United Nations' University for Peace in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She has also worked as a research assistant for the East Asia Institute at the National University of Singapore.
