The Challenges to the Democratization Process in Latin America

Since 1978, Latin America has gone through its longest, most profound and most durable wave of democratization. The region nevertheless faces ongoing challenges that threaten the viability and quality of democracy. Mr José Miguel Insulza, Secretary General of the Organization of American States, will address an LSE audience to discuss the most significant of these challenges, such as inequality, the rule of law, violence and organized crime.
