This event expects to discuss the current status and prospects of the peace negotiations and the future implementation of the agreements. It is also part of an important and inter-disciplinary effort made by the LSE, through LSE IDEAS, to further engage with the Colombian peace process and its future implementation along with the regional impacts of such enterprise.
Mr Jaramillo Caro will give a first-hand account of the current condition and future prospects of the peace negotiations and emphasise the need to implement a comprehensive model of territorial peace that combines peacebuilding and transitional justice. Mr Jaramillo will reflect on the dilemmas of peacemaking and peacebuilding in the Colombian context.

Sergio Jaramillo Caro is High Commissioner for Peace of the Government of Colombia. He was responsible for the secret meetings that led to the signing of the framework agreement - “Acuerdo General para la Terminación del Conflicto” - between the government and the FARC-EP guerrilla in August of 2012, and is now a key part of the government delegation involved in the current talks in Havana, Cuba.
Professor Michael Cox is Director of LSE IDEAS
