The seminar focussed on the political aspects of the Sino-EU relations. First, it explored what the trade issues reveal about the political challenges in the relationship. Second, it looked at the Sino-EU relationship from a Chinese perspective, asking how the EU assists or hinders the solution to social and political challenges within the People’s Republic. Third, the seminar explored questions related to global governance and multilateralism: on which issues, in which institutions, with what agenda and outcomes does the EU and China interact. Finally, the discussion broadened to the EU-China relationship in an Asian context.
The event was co-organised by the Dahrendorf Working Group 5 'Europe and the world' and the LSE IDEAS East Asia International Affairs Programme.
