The presentation will focus on the schools of thought that emerged in Greek foreign policy-making during the Cold War, and on the ways that Athens tried to implement these strategies. How did a small state view a global process such as the Cold War? How did the Greek civil war influence the perceptions of official Athens in 1946-9? What was the impact of a growing anti-Americanism which was strengthened after the humiliating experience of the 1967-74 dictatorship? How did Athens view the transatlantic relationship?
