The Transition Pathway Initiative (TPI) has announced today the appointment of Ms Nadine Viel Lamare in a newly created role as Director of the TPI.  In her role she will be responsible for the ongoing development and expansion of TPI, the leading online tool that assesses companies’ preparedness for the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Nadine will be responsible for managing TPI’s key relationships and to represent TPI externally as the initiative continues to gather support from asset owners and asset managers. Recent members include NBIM and Willis Towers Watson which takes TPI’s support to over $13 trillion in assets under management. The appointment is effective immediately and is part time with the role expected to take two to three days a week.

In the role, Nadine will work in close collaboration with TPI’s two co-chairs, Adam Matthews, of the Church of England Pensions Board and Faith Ward on behalf of the Environment Agency Pension Fund (part of the Brunel Pensions Partnership), LSE and PRI.

Prior to joining TPI, Nadine was previously Head of Sustainable Value Creation at AP1, the leading pension fund that manages part of the capital in Sweden’s national income pension system. Nadine left AP1 at the end of 2018 and represented the AP1 on the TPI Steering Committee.

Nadine Viel Lamare said: “I am honoured to have been appointed as Director of TPI and look forward contributing to this very important and ground-breaking initiative as TPI continues to grow at an exponential rate. Demand from owners and investors continues to grow globally as they seek to understand and evaluate the potential risks of climate change.”

Adam Matthews, TPI Co-Chair on behalf of the Church of England, said: ‘Nadine joins TPI at exactly the right moment as we move into the next phase of TPI’s development and expansion. Nadine is highly respected for her leadership and knowledge and played an important role on behalf of AP1 in supporting the foundation of TPI. We are excited by what we can achieve together. She understands from an asset owner point of view the enormous benefits that TPI bring to owners and investors alike.”

Faith Ward, TPI Co-Chair on behalf of the Environment Agency Pension Fund, part of the Brunel Pension Partnership said: “With Nadine’s skills, knowledge and energy we believe we can make many more investors aware of TPI and amplify action on the transition to a low carbon economy.”
