Markus Lederer

While at GRI Markus will work on the politics of a green transformation in the global South and on the geopolitics of renewable energy.
Background
Markus is a Professor for Political Science with a focus on International Relations and International Governance at the University of Münster in Germany. He holds a doctorate from the University of Munich in Germany where he also did his MA. His research interests cover international relations, security politics and global climate politics where he focuses on the politics of green transformations in the global South (currently working on Costa Rica and Vietnam), the institutional aspects of setting up market mechanisms and the role of forest governance. His most recent publications have appeared in Regulation & Governance, Environmental Politics, Ecological Economics, Cambridge Review of International Affairs, The Journal of Energy Markets and the Journal of Environment and Development. Before coming to Münster, he taught at the Technical University of Darmstadt, the University of Potsdam as well as at the University of Bremen (all in Germany) and had fellowships at Columbia University in New York and at the Universidad de Costa Rica.
