Law No. 16 of 22 May 2012, determining the Organisation, Functioning and Mission of the National Fund for Environment (FONERWA)
This Law determines the organisation, functioning and mission of the National Fund for Environment in Rwanda (FONERWA). The fund will be the primary instrument to channel, distribute and monitor international and national climate finance.
FONERWA has four finance windows: conservation and sustainable management of natural resources; R&D and technology transfer; streamlining of climate change issues into policies and programmes; and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) monitoring & enforcement.
