Postdoctoral Academic Visiting at LSE
While the internship in the Department of Psychological and Behavioural Science(DPBS), I work under the supervision of Professor Sandra Jovchelovitch as a member of her Lab. My proposal is to analyze trajectories of young leaderships, observing the role of art and cultural expressions on youth empowerment and on social engagement. I intend to discuss theoretical and methodological questions, as well as accomplishing a systematic international bibliographic review, strengthening an international collaborative network. I receive a scholarship from the Brazilian Government (CAPES) to develop my postdoctoral research for the period between February and July 2015.
Research Background
During my PhD studies in Public Health, I developed a qualitative research, articulating knowledge from Developmental Psychology, Social Sciences and Health, aiming to analyze the role of social scaffolding (NGOs; school, community) on youth risk trajectories and to comprehend the self-construction through narratives.
For the last five years, my research has focused on youth culture, sociabilities, cultural practices and schooling.
I am a member of the research group TRACE (UEFS), which intends to study the interface between education, culture and developmental trajectories, mainly focusing on youth transitions, taking into account the social changes and interactions in urban space in a psychosocial cartographic perspective.
Research in development:
(2012-2014) Circuits of Cultural Consumption and Production: investigating the esthetic, ethical and political dimensions of youth cultural practices in Feira de Santana-Ba. (financed by CNPq).
The research goals consist in: 1) to map artistic and cultural expressions of youngsters’ groups in the city of Feira de Santana, Bahia (Brazil); 2) to understand the sociability processes through which youngsters build networks and strategies of social insertion; 3) to analyze the life trajectories of young leaderships in delineating professionalization projects and social engagement
Future Goal
I wish to contribute on the consolidation of research networks, developing international collaborative projects, as well as producing scientific and cultural exchange that could integrate the academic production with the public sphere in the promotion of youth cultures and social inclusion politics.
