Project description: My PhD project aims at the philosophical analysis and systematisation of arguments that are used to defend some kind of autonomy of the social, or more precisely, arguments that represent different ways of criticizing individualism from an ontological point of view. While at the CPNSS, I shall primarily focus on the on-going debate between social emergentists and reductionist individualists by analysing general problems and the preconditions for a plausible emergentist social theory.
