I have just completed the BPhil at the University of Montreal, and am now spending a year visiting at the CPNSS to investigate the fundamentals of statistical mechanics.

Project Description: During my visit at CPNSS I will be focusing on what entropy is and how - or rather, why - it works. Specifically I will centre on the inherent conflict that arises between the notions of entropy maximisation and the determinism of the laws that it answers to, as well as the associated question of the arrow of time.
