On the occasion of the Chinese New Year of the Monkey, CIBL supported and helped with a series of New Year Celebration events at HSBC. These events took place at different locations, including the HSBC Headquarters at Canary Wharf and St. James Park private bank.
Employees at HSBC celebrated the New Year with a range of activities including Chinese cultural talks, tasters classes, Chinese calligraphy, taichi, folk dancing, musical recitals performed on traditional Chinese instruments, lion dances, Chinese culture and language course information stalls and a Chinese traditional song performed by local school children. CIBL demonstrated China's traditional culture from all angles and the series of activities provided helped HSBC employees appreciate and gain a greater understanding of Chinese culture. Through the success of these celebrations, the links between CIBL and HSBC were greatly strengthened. The Chairman of HSBC, Douglas Flint, attended most of the activities in person and also hosted most of the key events.
