On 8 September 2016, UKTI and Confucius Institute for Business London (CIBL) held a Chinese language and culture training session for small and medium enterprises (SME’s) at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). The event was attended by more than forty representatives from various companies based in London, as well as representatives from the UKTI. CIBL UK Director Mr. Neil Mclean first welcomed the attendees to the event in an opening speech. CIBL trainer Felicia Schwartz then gave a lecture named Doing Business in China. After that, CIBL Coordinator Dr. Hong Lu delivered a lecture called Chinese Business Negotiation Style and CIBL teacher Ms. Han Zheng gave the trainees a language taster session. During the rest break the attendees practiced Tai Chi, a traditional Chinese martial art, led by CIBL coordinator Dr. Hong Lu. At the end of the training a VIP reception was held in the LSE staff dining room. The trainees, UKTI representative and CIBL staff all enjoyed this event greatly as it not only provided people with a chance to learn more about Chinese language and culture but also created networking and cooperation opportunities.
