On 20th September 2016 Dr Hong LU (CIBL Coordinator) and Craig Meegan (CIBL Office Manager) attended the Confucius Institute Conference for the UK and Ireland at the University of Glasgow, UK.
The conference was opened by speeches by Prof Anton Muscatelli, Principal of University of Glasgow, Professor Naijia Guan, Vice President, Nankai University, MSP Shirley-Anne Somerville, Minister for Further Education, Higher Education and Science, Scottish Government and Deputy Director – General, Mr Jianfei Ma, Hanban.
After the opening ceremony the conference began with stimulating discussions which focused on finding ways for UK Confucius Institutes (CI’s) to further increase efficiency, fully utilise resources and work more closely together. The conference was brought to a close with speeches from Prof Jane Duckett, International Dean of University of Glasgow, Mr Yongli Wang, Minister Counsellor for Education, Chinese Embassy and Prof Jim Conroy, Vice Principal of University of Glasgow.
