On 9 June 2016, a celebration of Chinese Dragon Boat Festival was held at the Confucius Institute for Business London (CIBL). Guests began arriving at CIBL at 12:00 and the event started with an opening speech from CIBL’s UK director Dr Neil Mclean, who talked about what he knew about the festival and welcomed everyone to the event. Next, CIBL student Jelena Kozomora made a presentation to help everyone learn more about the traditional food and customs of the festival. She also expressed her respect for Qu Yuan, a famous poet and statesman in ancient China. The presentation concluded with Jelena’s reciting of Qu Yuan’s poetry. People enjoyed Chinese dim sum and snacks together. The event was very successful thanks to the efforts of the CIBL team and the guests enjoyed the chance to learn more about Chinese culture.
