Mid-Autumn Festival

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is a popular harvest festival celebrated by Chinese people, dating back over 3,000 years to moon worship in China's Shang Dynasty. In China, Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines, it is also sometimes referred to as the Lantern Festival or Moon cake Festival. The Mid-Autumn Festival is held on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese lunar calendar, when the moon is at its fullest and roundest. The traditional food of this festival is the mooncake, of which there are many different varieties.

Every year CIBL holds an event at LSE and invites about 50 guests to celebrate this wonderful festival. The event includes an introduction to the festival, festival related entertainment performed by the CIBL team and students and traditional Chinese food. This year the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival celebration will take place on 26 September 2015.
