Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional holiday associated with Chinese and other East Asian and Southeast Asian societies. It has been a public holiday in mainland China since 2008. The festival occurs on the 5th day of the 5th month of the lunar calendar on which the Chinese calendar is based. The focus of the celebrations includes eating rice dumplings (粽子), drinking Xionghuang wine (雄黄酒), and racing dragon boats (赛龙舟).
Every year CIBL holds an event at LSE and invites about 50 guests to celebrate this wonderful festival. The event includes an introduction to the festival, festival related entertainment performed by the CIBL team and students and traditional Chinese food. This year the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival celebration will take place on 22 June 2015.
This event is invitation only but should you require further information please call 020 7955 6253 or email Craig Meegan: c.j.meegan@lse.ac.uk.
