LSE-CIBL Panel Discussion

1 - Eng

On 14 May 2015, the Confucius Institute for Business London (CIBL) successfully organized a panel discussion on ‘How China’s growing automobile industry will face the challenges of design in a global market place’. The event was held in the Thai Theatre of the LSE New Academic Building and chaired by CIBL’s UK director Nick Byrne. Nick welcomed the three panellists, Mr. Guan Jixuan (Volunteer Mandarin teacher at CIBL, MA in Transport Design at Tsinghua University), Cheng Shuxin (MA/MSc in Innovation Design Engineering at Imperial College) and Wu Yibo (MA in Transport Design at Royal College of Art) to the discussion.

The three speakers gave the audience an insightful presentation about how China’s growing automobile industry will face the challenges of design in a global market place. Dozens of audience members attended the session and took part in the Q & A section. Several guests raised some truly thought-provoking questions and got satisfying responses from the speakers. After this all the participants enjoyed drinks and refreshments outside the theatre at a VIP reception and continued to discuss the topics raised by the panel.

All those who attended the event enjoyed themselves and felt they had learned something. They consider it a valuable opportunity to broaden their horizons and deepen their thinking.
