CIBL and LSE EMBRACE joint celebration of the Chinese New Year

2015-EMBRACE-ENGLISH

On 26 February 2015 and a celebration of the Chinese New Year was held at LSE. The event was jointly organised by the Confucius Institute for Business London (CIBL) and LSE EMBRACE and over 30 people attended. This event marked the first collaboration between these 2 organisations.

The event was opened by a speech from CIBL UK director Nick Byrne who welcomed everyone to the event and gave a brief introduction to CIBL and the Chinese New Year of the Sheep. This was then followed by a speech from the head of LSE Embrace and concluded by Ms Lewina Coote, Chair of LSE EMBRACE.

After the speeches finished the guests were treated to a Chinese folk dance performance staring CIBL Tsinghua intern Ms. Yan Xingye and were able to take part in Chinese calligraphy and painting stalls arranged by CIBL.

The event was an excellent example interdepartmental collaboration within the LSE and received very positive from all those who attended.
