On 21 May 2015 a three nation (India, Senegal and China) multi-culture workshop and gala was held jointly by the Confucius Institute for Business London (CIBL) and Barclays Bank.
The event began at 12:00 at Barclays Headquarters, Canary Wharf, and staff members demonstrated the different customs and foods used to celebrate traditional festivals in their home countries. Ms. Lu YU, CIBL Tsinghua intern, performed a Peking opera song and then gave a presentation on its history and the different roles of Peking Opera characters, which stirred up the great interest of the audience. Meanwhile, CIBL mandarin teachers demonstrated different traditional Chinese crafts, such as the tea ceremony, Chinese painting and calligraphy while introducing the various language and cultural programmes provided by CIBL.
The event was attended by over 200 Barclays staff members and through this experience they were able to expand their understanding of world and Chinese traditional culture and arts.
