On 23 April 2014, the third meeting of the Advisory Council of the Confucius Institute for Business London was held in Tsinghua University, Beijing. Chaired by Prof. Xie Weihe, vice president of Tsinghua University and chairman of the Advisoty Council, the meeting was attended by Mr.Wang Yongli, deputy director general of Hanban, Mr.Charles Haswell, group head of Regulatory Policy and Strategy, head of China Affairs, HSBC, Mr. Angelo Amorelli, vice president for Science and Technology, BP, Sir. Thomas Harris, vice chairman of Standard Chartered Asia, Mr.Adrian Harley, director of John Swire & Son (HK) and China representative, Mr.David Percival, managing director China of Deloitte LLP, and Prof. Paul Kelly, vice president of LSE.
A video about CIBL’s eight-year history was shown and then followed by a work report about CIBL’s performance and new developments over the past two years’ was presented by Mr. Nick Byrne, CIBL’s UK director, Prof. Lisheng Luo, CIBL’s China director, Dr.Hong Lu and Mr. Craig Meegan,. The members of the Advisory Council reviewed the work report and expressed their approval of CIBL’s past work and achievements and then gave their suggestions for its future development.
At the same meeting, the signing ceremony for the agreement renewal of the Confucius Institute for Business London between the London School of Economics and Political Science and the Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban was held in Tsinghua University. Prof. Paul Kelly, vice president of LSE and Mr.Wang Yongli, deputy director general of Hanban signed the agreement.
