The New Year Gala, January 29 2014, was hosted by CSSA UK and sponsored by the Confucius Institute for Business London (CIBL) in the Logan Hall of the Institute of Education, University of London (IOE). The event was a great success and thousands of people attended the gala, including notable guests such as the Ambassador Liu Xiaoming from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the United Kingdom and the Director of the IOE, Professor Chris Husbands, both of whom attended this celebration and gave excellent speeches. The gala began with a display of Qin Martial Arts and over the next 2 hours proceeded with performances given by people from the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, the London School of Economics and Political Science, the Royal Academy of Music and the UK Research and Development Centre for Chinese Traditional Culture. The evening came to a close with the performance of a beautiful song named Nessun Dorma and was enjoyed by all. (By CIBL Min RUI)
