 2014 Panel Discussion Tsinghua 2

On 23 April 2014, a panel discussion on economics was successfully held in Tsinghua University with the theme of ‘Strengthening UK-China macroeconomic policy coordination: practical measures’. This panel was a part of CIBL’s THU-LSE Forum program, and was chaired by Mr. Charles Haswell, group head of Regulatory Policy and Strategy, head of China Affairs, HSBC and Prof. Ying Lowery from the Economic Institute, School of Social sciences, Tsinghua University. Nearly 40 people attended this event. The other members of CIBL’s Advisory Council, Mr. Angelo Amorelli, vice president for Science and Technology, BP, Sir. Thomas Harris,vice chairman of Standard Chartered Asia, Mr. Adrian Harley, director of John Swire & Son (HK) and China representative, Mr. David Percival, managing director China of Deloitte LLP, and Prof. Paul Kelly, vice president of LSE also joined the panel discussion. The attendees believed that it is necessary to exchange views and ideas on UK-China macroeconomic policy coordination, as this will help promote development and cooperation between the two countries.
