On 11 March 2014, the CIBL Academic Steering Group meeting was held in the CIBL offices at LSE. Prof. Paul Kelly chaired the meeting and CIBL UK director Mr. Nick Byrne presented CIBL’s 2013 work report and main upcoming tasks for 2014 to the Steering Group. The Steering Group discussed several projects which Hanban is promoting such as the New China Study Programme, the Core Teacher Post Programme, the Confucius Institute Day and their relevance to CIBL’s future development. Mr. Nick Byrne also reported on the preparations being made for the Advisory Council meeting which will be hosted by Tsinghua University in April. The Steering Group members were satisfied with CIBL’s performance and hoped that CIBL would implement Hanban’s projects and continue to maintain their current high standard of work in 2014.
