Public Speech on Global Financial Regulation-Implication for China

On the 12th of November, 2013, Mr. Charles Haswell, Global Head of Financial Sector Policy, HSBC Holdings plc. came to the School of Economics and Political Science and gave a speech on ‘Global Financial Regulation---Implication for China’ at the invitation from Confucius Institute for Business, London. Mr Haswell first briefly reviewed the history of global finance, and discussed some of his own views about China's economic development, the development of the world economy and the relationship between the two from the perspective of global financial regulation. As an experienced financial expert, Mr Haswell objectively evaluated the role of China in global finance. In conclusion, he shared with the audience some of his ideas about the development of China's financial system in the future. 

The public speech was chaired by UK director Nick Byrne, with a large audience of more than 170 LSE students and staff, scholars and guests from financial and banking circles in London. The speech successfully ended amidst loud applause.
