The Chinese Business Culture Talk by Confucius Institute for Business London LSE took place in Shell UK at noon on 14th Feb 2013. This successful event which in total attracted the attendance of about 50 professionals from the company, was assisted by and held in conjunction with Shell UK.
The event consisted of two main parts: The first was a talk on Chinese business culture given by Professor Luo Lisheng, CIBL’s China Director. This section focused on promoting Chinese Business Culture. Professor Luo highlighted and compared the different nuances of business culture between the East and the West through examples of colours, numbers, giving gifts and banquets. There was a high level of engagement with this topic, and many attendees found the subject interesting and useful. In the second part, Dr. Hong Lu, the coordinator of CIBL, talked about the language courses available at CIBL, and Shell employees were particularly interested in Chinese business language courses provided by CIBL. After the talk, Dr Lu introduced Chinese calligraphy, and gave Chinese names to some of the audience. Shell is a global group of energy and petrochemical companies.
