Each year Hanban (Confucius Institute Headquarters) organises 'The Chinese
Bridge', a Chinese Proficiency Competition which takes 50 of the best
Chinese students in the UK and tests their Chinese language skills and
cultural awareness. Since its launch in 2002, the annual 'Chinese
Bridge' event has attracted more than 100,000 university students from
over 70 countries, the best of which have gone on to represent their
countries in the Global Finals.
This year's "Chinese Bridge" competition was held in the British Museum
on March 17 2013 and The Confucius Institute for Business, London (CIBL), was
well represented by Lucy Minyo, currently a student at CIBL. Although
unfortunately she did not make the Global Finals, she showed incredible
dedication in balancing both her work commitments as well as her
preparation for the competition. In particular, everyone was impressed
with her drawings of Chinese traditional architecture, which drew upon both her
architecture and design background, as well as her work on live conservation projects of traditional buildings in China.
