On the 28thof October 2013, Dr. Kent G. Deng, Associate Director of the Confucius Institute for Business, London, was kindly invited by Lord Clement-Johns to the House of Lords Panel Discussion on China. As the keynote speaker, Dr. Deng addressed the issues of “The China Plan: Economics of a Superpower and China’s Investments: Who benefits?”. Based on his research, Dr. Deng clarified his argument that China's economic development is conducive to overall improvement in the world economy, and China’s investment is not only for China's own benefit, but also for the developing and developed countries’ benefit.

In response to Dr. Deng’s speech, Lord Clement-Johns expressed his view on China's economy. In particular, he referred to the fact that the House of Lords Panel Discussion on China provides objective and timely information on the trends of China's economic development and its relevance to Londoners in financial, economic and academic circles. Lord Clement-Johns runs a committee and desk on China in the Parliament.
