'Does China still matter?' Panel Discussion held by CIBL gave answers to this question

On 27th November, Sir Thomas Harris, Vice Chairman of Standard Chartered, Mr. Ralph Adams, Chairman of Deloitte Chinese Service Group and Mr. John Hughes, BP Group Political Advisor were invited to speak at the LSE panel discussion organized by the Confucius Institute for Business London. They spoke on the topic "Does China still matter" and the discussion was chaired by Professor Danny Quah from the Department of Economics, LSE.

The speech began at 6:30pm with around 200 participants joining us in New Theatre, LSE. November 2012 saw the once-in-a-decade power transfer in the 18th National Congress so the discussion focused on China’s development in the context of important changes in the Chinese political landscape and economy, as well as a large variety of other topics. We have all witnessed China's contributions to the world economy, but China still has some complicated problems. What’s more, there exist some misunderstandings between China and other countries.

After the discussion, speakers answered questions raised by the audience. The forum ended successfully amidst applause. (CIBL Yu LIU)
