This year's "Chinese Bridge" was held in the British Museum on March 17, 2012, an annual event for Chinese Proficiency Competition for Tertiary Students in the UK as part of the global competition organized by the Hanban (Confucius Institute Headquarters). Around 30 contestants across the country took part in this year's event; 10 managed to get through the final.
John Campion from the London School of Economics and Political Science won the 'Most Knowledgeable Award'. He is also a student of Confucius Institute for Business London and has been coached by CIBL's professors for this Competition. The evening event reached its climax with the folk song 'I love you, China' sung by Denise Clark who has learned her Chinese at CIBL for merely a week .
Since its launch in 2002, the annual "Chinese Bridge" event has attracted over 100,000 university students from over 70 countries, of whom about 1,000 regional winners have gone to China for the annual global grand finals.
