The second London Business Chinese Teacher Training Course finished on 18th September 2011. Around 30 trainees from all over the UK successfully completed this 3-day course.
This training course was jointly organized by Confucius Institute for Business London (CIBL), Tsinghua University and HanBan (Confucius Institute). The opening speeches were given by: Mr. Xiao GangTian, from the Chinese Embassy, and Mr. Tongdu Chen, the UK director of Hanban. They discussed the bright future that lies ahead for Chinese teaching and gave their sincere best wishes to all of the trainees.
The demand for Chinese teachers is continually increasing across the globe. However, there is still a significant lack of qualified teachers, particularly in areas such as business language. In response to this, CIBL has created this course, with the aim to send qualified Chinese teachers across Europe.
The course consists of three parts: Guided Research, Intensive Training and Online learning. During the intensive training, participants received advice from a range of prominent scholars including: Dr. Xinsheng Zhang (SOAS), Miss Jing Fang (Oxford University), Professor Siyi Fu (Director of Confucius Institute in Cardiff University), Professor Guoying Huang and Dr. Hong Lu (CIBL).
Trainers shared their experience, combining theoretical and practical aspects, as well as answering any questions raised by trainees. In addition to this, experts gave valuable advice on suitable business etiquette and time management skills. For the final part of the course, all the trainees, using the knowledge they had acquired during the course, were required to make a presentation for a 20-hour course proposal. Trainees responded well to all aspects of the course.
Upon completion of the course, all the trainees were invited to join an online learning forum. Through this forum, CIBL invites a range of experienced trainers to give lectures on a variety of topics related to Business Chinese. This is an ongoing process, which ensures participants have a resource to turn to in the future.
The course began in 2010 and due to much positive feedback has become an annual event. The ultimate goal of CIBL is to establish itself as an internationally renowned training centre.
